| Is Amazon Expeditions "Kid Friendly"? |
Absolutely! We have kids too and wouldn't dream of offering a service that was not fun and engaging for kids as well. Generally we recommend bringing your children along if they are at least 7 years of age. We offer fun activities like basket weaving, face painting and canvas painting for children of our guests but typically children younger than 7 years of age are not engaged by these activities.

| Is a trip to the Amazon Rainforest safe? |
Yes! However, like in any forest in the world, the Amazon certainly has bugs and creatures to be careful of. As with any adventure in the great outdoors, it is important to watch your step and be respectful of nature. With Amazon Expeditions, your trips into the rainforest will always be led under the guidance of your expert rainforest guide.

| What is the weather going to be like? |
The weather in the Amazon is warm and humid. The weather throughout the year is usually between 85°-95°F during the day and can drop down to the upper 70's in the evenings. Rain is common in the evenings and can occur during the day as well. Remember to pack lightweight clothing and at least one long sleeved shirt for the evenings.

| What kind of wildlife will I see? |
Our area of Peru is rich with wildlife and you are sure to see a lot on your adventure. You will almost certainly see the three toed sloth, squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarinds, pygmy marmosets, pink river dolphins, blue and yellow macaw and much, much more.

| What would happen in the event of an emergency? |
Although our lodge is located on a remote tributary, we are prepared for a variety of emergency scenarios. Members of our staff are trained and prepared to handle basic first aid related issues. We have access to a radio communications system at our lodge, which enables us to call medical support in Iquitos if needed. Additionally, a high-powered speedboat is always at the lodge when guests are visiting which allows us to return to Iquitos quickly if we need to.

| What type of communications are available at the lodge? |
Curassow Lodge is too remote for landline or cell phone use, so plan to enjoy your privacy for the days you’re visiting the jungle.

| Is there electicity at the lodge? |
No, in the spirit of authenticity, we do not have electricity at the lodge. We do operate an electric generator for part of the day to charge batteries and provide refrigeration for various food products. Water is warmed by the sun in tanks before it reaches your bathroom. At night, the lodge and walkways are lit with oil lamps and provide a soft, warm glow.

| Do you do group or individual excursions? |
We provide individual tours and excursions for our guests. We don't mix different groups of visitors together for group tours and excursions. Each visiting party will have its own guide or guides, depending on the size of the group. Occasionally, if one or more smaller groups are interested in the same activity at the same time, they can be grouped together, but that would be up to the guests.
